Say hello to my little friend If you ever saw the studio of Saul Bass, you’d have seen a beyond-the-average-Joe collection of objects, from snow globes to gnomes, filling the offices. It seems the desks of our designers in Landor Paris are no different, with what seems to be an unhealthy obsession for animal souvenirs, collectable adult toys, from Bearbricks, Dunnys, Munny’s, Qees to just plain weird stuff, like a rubber chicken. Ours is not to question, but simply accept and move on, or give in to the desire.

Dis bonjour à mes gentils amis Si vous avez déjà vu un jour le bureau de Saul Bass, vous aurez surement été impressionné par sa collection d’objets hétéroclites, allant des boules à neige au gnomes. Il semblerait que les bureaux des designers de Landor Paris soient dans le même esprit, envahis par les animaux et toys de collection: Bearbricks, Dunnys, Munny’s ou Qees ne sont que quelques exemples. Mais on trouve aussi tous pleins d’autres choses un peu bizarres, dont un poulet en caoutchouc poussant des cris assez terrifiants. Évitons de nous poser trop de questions, c’est comme ça, on ne peut pas y résister.

On creativity During their visit to Stockholm for the Black Box project viewing at the Sven-Harrys art museum, our Creative leads, Jason Little and Rob Evers, were invited to offer some creative inspiration in the form of a short seminar on creativity. They covered everything from what it’s all about, why we do it, and more importantly, how we achieve it. They were also creative with their time keeping, going over by 25 minutes.

La créativité Pendant leur visite à Stockholm pour l’exposition Black Box Project au Musée d’Art Sven-Harrys, nos directeurs de la création, Jason Little et Rob Evers, ont été invités à intervenir, au cours d’une courte intervention, sur la créativité. Ils en ont balayé tous les aspects, de sa définition, leurs motivations, jusqu’à leurs réalisations, et tout cela en 25 minutes, c’est pas de la créa, ça ?

Black Box In Stockholm Having already toured Paris, London, Amsterdam, New York and Hamburg, Last week was the time for the Black Box Project to visit homeland of Iggesund Paperboard, Stockholm, Sweden. With Around 400 people, the newly opened Sven-Harrys art museum was crammed full of people eager to see the work of the initial five studios, with Landor’s work taking centre stage.

Black Box à Stockholm Déjà présenté à Paris, Londres, Amsterdam, New York et Hambourg, la semaine dernière fut le temps pour Black Box Project de se rendre à Stockholm – Suède, mère patrie de Iggesund Paperboard. Avec environ 400 personnes, le tout nouveau musée d’art Sven-Harrys était plein à craquer de personnes désireuses de découvrir le travail des 5 premiers studios de design à participer à l’opération, dont celui de Landor au centre de la scène.

Jason spoke to Bindu Nair Maitra at Kyoorius about what makes a successful destination brand, and how to go about the process. He also gave some further insight into the City of Melbourne identity he led whilst at the Sydney office of Landor, incorporated as a case study in the article. Livrée à plat comme n'importe quelle autre carte, elle se transforme en un clin d’oeil en photophore grâce à un système intelligent de pliage. Un dessin d’inspiration suédoise s'enroule autour d'une bougie ou d’une LED et laisse passer à travers le nom de l'entreprise en lettres lumineuses. Résultat: une carte de vœux fidèle à l’esprit de ce fabricant de papier haut de gamme qui défie l’ère digitale de l’éphémère et prolonge la magie de Noël tout au long de l’année.

IGGESUND WISHES CARD Often Holiday cards are discarded as quickly as the wrapping paper around presents. They come and go as fast as the festive period itself. Not for Iggesund Paperboard though. The Holiday card Landor designed for Iggesund is a real keeper. The card is delivered flat, like any other card, but thanks to a smart folding system, the card can be easily transformed into a photophore. A Swedish based pattern wraps around the object and allows the light from a candle or L.E.D light to shine through and playfully throw light reflections that spells the company’s name. Result: a Holiday card that, even in our digital era, truly relates to the spirit of this high quality paper manufacturer and spreads the light and magic of Christmas for months to follow.
